Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to put forward points of view which need to study the development of child's play activity through the investigation of the child's play theory of Soviet psychology. Thinking about the guidance of child's play and grasping of child's play development, it is necessary to consider the next points of view : To grasp dialectically the development of play activity, especially the development of role play ; in its genesis, its development and its extinction ; To grasp the play activity attending to the motivation of that activity. It was pointed out that when we study genesis of child's role play, we must distinguish between early role play activity itself and genetic conditions of it. That is, we must make clear genetic conditions of role play activity by way of wide-ranging studies of child development. As for the development of role play, we must elucidate what aspect of adult's activity is reproduced in child's role play activity ; that is, we must make clear the developmental change of the content of child's role play. Simultaneously, it is necessary to study children's real relationship in the role play situation, and to study the development of motivation of child's play activity from both sides-internal (the content of play) and external (human relationship in the play) sides of the play activity. As for the extinction of the role play, it is pointed out that the significance of play activity to the whole development was made clear essentially by the consideration of the extinction of play activity.
