Abstract
Total plasma protein of hen blood increases with age at a very slow rate until the time of sexual maturity. During this period, nearly the same value of plasma protein can be obtained regardless of the methods of determination. Further, plasma samples taken from immature hens give a negative reaction whenever tested by the NaCl-Ac turbidity test. Approximately 10 days before the day of first oviposition, significant amount of lipophosphoprotein appears in plasma. Its concentration soon reaches to that of laying hen and hens come into lay. After the onset of laying, plasma protein fluctuates in a cyclic fashion without affecting the rhythm of laying.
