Abstract
Three cases of infertile ewes (one case of oligospermia and two cases of aspermia) were treated with iodinated thyroprotein (iod-casein). The administration of iod-casein greatly improved the sexualdesire and semen qualities in an ewe with oligospermia, but there were no effect in ewes with aspermia-even when given with gonadotropin simultaneously.
In the field trial, two ewes with low fertility were treated with iod-casein. Before treatment they.showed poor libido, oligospermia and low fertility rate, 7% and 43% respectively. The treatmentimproved the sexual desire and semen qualities, and the rate of fertility increased to 83% and 87% respectively.
The results suggest that the administration of iod-casein considerably improves the libido and semen-qualities in infertile ewe and the treatment is of value.
