Abstract

In order to examine the yellow sand influence on leaching ions from a copper plate and a brass plate, the behavior of various ion components was examined by using an artificial corrosion exposure chamber under three conditions : (1) pure rain + gas ; (2) pure rain + gas + aerosol ; (3) artificial acid rain + gas + aerosol.
On the condition that there is no acid fog, it was observed that the amount of corrosion of Cu and Zn from both plates was reduced by the atomizing of yellow sand. It can be considered that the oxidation-reduction potential of corrosion has contributed to this fact. Thus, the inhibition of corrosion by the yellow sand was observed under certain conditions.
