Sustainable Societies in the Context of Harmonization between Human Beings and Natural Ecosystems

Abstract

Global sustainability is to be central to study desirable social visions in the future. This report summarizes some international literature explaining the concepts of social-ecological resilience, natural capital and new commons, and explores the idea of sustainable societies based on harmonization between human beings and natural systems. Further international research cooperation between developed and developing countries should be enhanced to make new global actions possible by multi-stakeholder participation.
