Abstract

In recent years, from the aspect of carbon neutrality, straight vegetable oil (SVO) has attracted attention among biomass energy sources. Waste food oil can be used as BDF by esterification, but the use of catalysts and the generation of byproducts increase costs. Because the conventional method of SVO generation is costly, we propose the use of a new pressurized dissolution and agitation mixer to generate SVO. This study, because the conventional SVO tried to reduce pollutants using SVO-water emulsified fuel with a pressurized dissolution stirring mixer and proposed a method of generating effective SVO that can utilize the entire amount of waste food oil. The use of water-emulsified fuel enabled the gradual reduction of NOx and the improvement of fuel consumption rate. In addition, particulate matter (PM) weight was proportional to the water content of SVO-water emulsified fuel. Based on the concentration PM of exhaust gas pollutants, fuel consumption rate, and PM weight, the optimum water content of SVO-water emulsified fuel in this study was estimated to be up to 20%.
