Abstract

The method of triangle odor bag test using plastic odor bag for measurering odor concectration (odor dilution/threshold number) is using populary. but on the calculation system of the site boundary or environmental, odor is different from that of the source odor, then the statistical meanings are different each other and the odor concentration calculated by this system is not enough precise.
In this paper, the probability p of giving a right answer by mere chance in the method of triangle test were discussed and new system which was more accurate was suggested.
The accuracy of calculated odor concentration may not be so improved, even if the pannel member is increased, remaining the probability p=1/3, but when the number of judgeing time at each testing dilution is increased, the 95% confidence interval becomes narrow because the probability became smaller.
So, the answer of the subject is considered as right in the case that all of the twice or three times of judgements are correct, and the same rule applies correspondingly to the culculation system for the source odor, then precise odor concentration will be got.
