Abstract
Much of sludge generated by slurry shield tunneling handled as construction mud is disposed as the industrial wastes. The individual governmental appointment system is used as a measure of efficiently utilizing the sludge, and the sludge can be recycled by the permission granted by the prefectural governor. The property of sludge changes dramatically due to the change in the ground to be tunneled. The improved sludge that satisfies the conditions given by this system can be manufactured by varying the blending ratios of the primary treatment sludge to the secondary treatment sludge and the quantity of the materials according to the original sludge properties. This report shows the quality control technique for securing desired properties by means of the analysis of data that were collected from the improvement of sludge using the neutral inorganic material in the slurry shield tunneling.
