Abstract

M. radiophilus was sensitized to gamma-rays by postirradiation incubation at 42°C or at 30°C in the presence of chloramphenicol. Radiation induced strand scissions and alkali labile bonds in DNA were repaired by post-irradiation incubation under normal conditions. However, these lesions were repaired only partially during the incubation at 42°C or in the presence of chloramphenicol.
