Study on the Relationship Between Effects of Radon Therapy and Effects of Negative Ion -Interrelationship Between Radiation for Radon Therapy and Negative Ion-

Abstract

It is known that the negative ions are produced by the waterfall electricity (Lenard effect), by the lightning or corona discharge (electric effect), and by the radon hot springs (radiation effect). The medical effects by the negative ion are similar to the effects of radon therapy, such as for the enhancement of the elimination of the active oxygen. Accordingly, we studied on the relationship between the radioactive minerals for radon therapy and the negative ion. The standard gamma-ray sources (¹³⁷Cs, ⁶⁰Co) and the radioactive minerals are prepared to measure the charge distribution around the samples using the negative ion counter. In the results, the negative ions were not detected from the standard gamma-ray sources but detected from the radioactive minerals. Moreover, the negative ions were not detected from the radioactive minerals with the shield of alpha rays. The findings suggested that alpha rays could be contribute to the production of the negative ions. [J Radiat Res 44:393 (2003)]
