Analysis of p53 activity in mice exposed to tritium beta-rays and caesium-137 gamma-rays

Abstract

We have examined the elevation of T-cell receptor (TCR) variant fractions in splenic T lymphocytes by β-rays from tritiated water (HTO) with 3 Gy by a single i.p. injection and ¹³⁷Cs γ-rays with 3 Gy at a low dose rate mimicking internal expose (simulation-irradiation). In p53^+/+ mice, although the TCR variant fraction did not increased at all by ¹³⁷Cs γ-rays, that by ³H β-rays increased 19 day after injection. In this study, We analyzed the p53 activity in T cells from mice after whole body exposure by ³H β-rays and ¹³⁷Cs γ-rays with 3 Gy.
