Abstract
In the middle of the 1990's, US-DOE and EU individually started construction of the long-term animal experiment study database. In the middle of the 1990's, scientists in US and EU have started an international collaborative project to incorporate both databases and also Japanese scientists was asked to join the project. Finally, the International Radiobiology Archives (IRA) was compiled the data from experiments performed from 1960 to 1998 in US, EU and Japan was registered in common format and diagnosis criterion. The importance of this database was recognized and EU had adopted this project for the EURATOM FP6 project (2006-2009) to construct web database "ERA-PRO" in 2006, and the improvement of the database system/format were promoted by scientists from 11 organizations of in 8 countries. Furthermore, to construct the sample archive of the researches registered in "ERA-PRO", the "STORE" project was developed and adopted for EURATOM FR7 (2009-2012). Nine research institutes in 6 EU countries, including Russia, are now proceeding the project to develop a sample archive and the analytical technique to analyze the old embedded samples of past studies. The scientists in Japan and United States are acting as the member of the advisory committee of the project. Up to today, Japanese scientists have collaborated with this international database/archive construction through the JRA (network at the researcher level).
For the sample archive construction in our country, it is thought that the situation in which research laboratories individually manage the data/materials will continue in the future. It is expected that the data/materials will be networked in a common format, and to be registered in the European archive in the near future.
