Abstract
The VVEL system has the valve lift characteristics unique to a multiple-link mechanism. It provides large valve lift in the high-speed range combined with low friction at low engine speeds. This paper describes the structural features of the multiple-link valve mechanism that achieve such characteristics as well as the various performance levels attained with the VVEL system.
