Abstract
In this paper, sensitivity analysis was conducted by multi-dimensional CFD code coupled with complex chemistry analysis to investigate the dominant factor of diesel combustion. Heat release rate diagram was used for evaluating the effect of each parameter by comparing the shape of the diagram. The analysis revealed that the spatial density of oxygen is a very important determinant of the ignition timing in diesel combustion. Additionally, very simple equations were lead by the results of sensitivity analysis, and they could roughly predict heat release rate curve in extremely low CPU cost.
