Abstract
Tests conducted on actual roads in various driving situations of different degrees of difficulty revealed that the correct response rate of older drivers to an illuminated light in the peripheral visual field was lower than that of younger drivers. This indicated that the mental and physical workload of the older drivers was greater. To elucidate the reason for their poorer performance, driving situations of different degrees of difficulty were reproduced on a driving simulator and their reaction time and driving behavior were analyzed.
