Study on the Relationship between Fuel Characteristics and Auto-Ignition in Gasoline HCCI Engines (First Report)

-Analysis with Paraffinic Model Fuels of different Research Octane Numbers-

Abstract

For the commercial production of gasoline HCCI engines, it is important that the effect of fuel characteristics on HCCI combustion and SI combustion. In this study, using the model fuels composed of paraffins, the effect of fuel characteristics on two Auto-Ignition phenomena, which are 1) HCCI combustion and 2) knocking in SI combustion, is analyzed with experimental and numerical approaches.
