Abstract
A human FE model was used to clarify the mechanisms of the hip sliding. Using the model, the moment on hip around the center of gravity was investigated when it sit on a rigid seat. It was found that the backward moment around the hip CG induced by the interaction force between hip and seat was the main cause of hip sliding. A hip sliding equation was constructed based on the relationship of the cushion angle underneath of hip and the interaction force. And its validation against volunteer tests using car seats was introduced.
