Abstract
The adult and elderly FE thorax models reported at 2009 JSAE Spring Congress could achieve less biofidelity in chest impact, one of the reasons for which was assumed to be less biofidelic bone models other than ribs developed with few biomechanics data published. In this study, the sternum and the costal cartilage models were updated referring newly published test results. Incorporating these bone models, the thorax models showed improved response in chest impact.
