Abstract

Lean nickel duplex stainless steel using the transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) combines the merit of austenitic stainless steel, i.e. high elongation and high strength, with the merit of ferritic stainless steel, i.e. high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. This stainless steel has also excellent pitting corrosion resistance equivalent to SUS304 and SUS436L, and is expected as a new type of stainless steel.
