Abstract
In order to improve reliability in a permanent magnet synchronous motor of an electric vehicle, a method for estimating magnet temperature which is difficult to measure directly is desired. This paper deals with development of temperature estimation for the motor magnet based on real-time computing of a temperature estimation model. With the aim of accuracy improvement, observer is adopted, and a measure point maximizing likelihood of estimated temperature of the magnet is explored. The result shows that measure points of inner air and coil are optimal for estimating magnet temperature in case of choosing from options which are easy to measure, and improvement of accuracy of estimating magnet temperature is verified.
