Abstract
In the use process of diesel particulate filter (DPF) an incombustible ash layer accumulates on DPF wall, and is the factor to reduce the particulate matter (PM) oxidation ability compared with the clean filter. Our aim is to determine an evaluation method of PM oxidation ability covered with a simulated ash layer. We composed a simulated ash layer using alumina powder that has suitability to PM oxidation ability of the DPF covered with a real ash layer and quantified the ability using a visualization system.
