Abstract

To reduce vibration and noise of motors, restraining vibration induced by electromagnetic force is necessary. In this report, we focus attention on axial mode shapes of the stator core and relationships with electromagnetic force harmonics and propose a method to restrain electromagnetic vibration by three-dimensional electromagnetic field construction to change electromagnetic force harmonics amplitudes and phases in the axial direction of the motor. The result of the calculated acoustic power level reduction was obtained by applying one rotor configuration based on the proposed method to an actual motor excited by radial electromagnetic force harmonics.
