Abstract
Heavy-duty plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) are anticipated an increase. PHEV can be operated by motor driving or hybrid driving which combine engine and motor. Fuel economy and emission of PHEV change by the different of those operate modes. In this study, fuel economy and emission of PHEV were evaluated by operating several plug-in hybrid controls. On this experiment, we used the EILS (Engine-In-the-Loop- Simulation), which was constructed by actual engine and HILS (Hardware-In-the-Loop- Simulation). The results of this experiment are obtained that the emission (NOx) at engine starting cycle in the CD (Charge Depleting) range was the worst. In order to improve NOx, the engine of PHEV is necessary to be operated aggressively at the driving point of high power in the CD range.
