Abstract
As electrified vehicles become more widespread, the primary approach to braking is shifting from wheel brakes to regenerative brakes. Under these circumstances, this paper proposes a new brake system architecture called the triple hybrid brake system (THBS). THBS features a new high load brake installed on the vehicle body, and restricts the role of wheel brakes to low loads. As a result, THBS helps to reduce the unsprung mass. First, the basic design guidelines were obtained using a 2-DOF vibration model. Then the effect was confirmed by driving simulations of a 3-D vehicle dynamics model.
