Abstract
Using Pt-Pd fine-particles on a membrane filter made of alumina nano-sized particles, it was clarified that a cake layer of particulate matters deposited on the catalyzed membrane could be oxidized under the condition of temperature around 400 degrees Celsius. Nitrogen monoxide introduced is reacted with oxygen by the Pt-Pd catalyst to produce nitrogen dioxide which is diffused toward upstream side particulate matters layer. Depending on a wall flow superficial velocity, the diffusion of nitrogen dioxide is useful for low temperature oxidation of particulate matters.
