Abstract
This paper proposes a reduced soot formation model for gasoline surrogate fuel with 72 chemical species and 409 gas phase reactions. We examined comprehensively the soot formation and its temporal characteristics calculated by the reduced and detailed model. The nucleation rate of soot particle was reviewed using the experimental data by a shock tube. As a result, we obtained the reasonable reduced model that is almost in agreement with not only the experimental data but also the calculated one with detailed model. The proposed model, reduced GSF model, for gasoline surrogate fuel can be applied to the 3D-CFD calculation of soot formation in an engine cylinder.
