Abstract
CO2 capture from engine exhaust using the adsorption method was investigated. Engine exhaust emissions and a representative gas consisting of only air and CO2 were used as the test gasses. A four-stroke gasoline engine and 4.65 kg of zeolite 13X, which was held in a canister with an internal volume of 6.5 L, were used to conduct the tests. The results showed an approximate capture rate of 90% CO2 at 30 minutes after introducing the representative gas. With the engine exhaust gas, CO2 was also selectively captured by the zeolite, even when H2O, CO, and THC coexisted with the CO2.
