Abstract
Improving the thermal efficiency of internal combustion engines is essential for reducing CO2 in the transportation sector. In the previous report, we found that hydrocarbons with lower molecular weight extend the lean limit of the super lean-burn condition. In this report, in order to investigate the relationship between molecular weight and lean limit, we conducted some engine tests and detailed reaction calculations with hydrocarbons with high molecular weight. We also studied about the effect on the lean limit when using the feedstock materials in petroleum refinery with various molecular weight.
