Abstract
AOI (Automobile and Oil Innovation) Project has started as a collaboration between industries and academia. It was shown that increasing the portion of olefin in gasoline can extend the lean/dilution burn limit. Thereby, in this study, the effect of fuel components on combustion characteristics, such as thermal efficiency, dilution limit, cooling loss, unburnt loss were examined using a single-cylinder engine to understand the complex factors in combining different kinds of fuels. EGR rate was changed at stoichiometric condition with varying compression ratio and tumble ratio. As a result, not only Octane number and laminar burning speed, but also Lewis number and Karlovitz number should be accounted for to understand the experimental results.
