Abstract
In diesel engines, soot deposition on lubricating oil causes a decline in lubrication performance, but the mechanism is not well understood. The purpose of this study is to construct an equation for predicting the amount of soot contamination in lubricating oil. The effects of the temperature difference between the spray flame and the wall surface on the amount of soot deposition were investigated for measuring the soot concentration by the LII method, the flame temperature by the two-color method, and the amount of soot adhesion by the transmitted light attenuation method.
