Abstract
A piston made of aluminum alloy needs monitoring and control system of the temperature for long lifetime. A method to estimate piston temperature for diesel engines was developed. It revealed by CAE and temperature measurement that change of piston temperature is linearly and independently by influential factors as start of fuel injection, EGR, cylinder intake gas temperature and cooling oil jet cooling. The method can express transient temperature change by 1st order lag. Using this method, piston stress and lifetime on a market are predictable. Moreover, piston temperature control combined with this method and oil path circuit control can reduce fuel consumption at during transient operation.
