Abstract
The carbon deposit in gasoline engines have various influences on engine performance and hinder long-term operation. They are generated from carbon in fuel oils and lubricating oils. It is important to classify the cause of carbon deposit broadly in research & development and investigate the countermeasures to reduce them at an early stage. In this study, we report on the development of a method to quantitatively indicate the specific causes in gasoline engines for all deposit that affect engine performance.
