Abstract
Thermal management for the lithium-ion battery in the electric vehicle, which controls the battery temperature, is important to counteract power output, degradation and overheating of the battery. To design an optimal thermal management system, it is effective to use a vehicle system 1D simulation model. We studied several thermal management systems for the battery electric vehicle and evaluated the performance of the system based on this simulation model. First, we implemented battery thermal model using battery temperature measurement test in the vehicle. After implementing the battery thermal model, we analyzed the battery warm-up behavior at cold start with each thermal management system proposal and evaluated battery warm-up performance in terms of warm-up time, electrical energy and heat transfer energy.
