Abstract
In order to estimate fuel economy of engine vehicles, we usually use chassis dynamometer. Engines on these vehicles are cooled by using the cooling fan of chassis dynamometer. The recent electric vehicles (EVs) manage the thermal energy of all components during driving. Therefore, it is necessary to replicate wind flows of real driving correctly by using the cooling fan. In this study, we modified the cooling fan outlet and verified the effect of it by using an engine vehicle and electrified vehicles. During the driving test cycle, the fuel economy and emissions of the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) was improved by using the modified fan outlet in comparison with the conventional fan outlet.
