Abstract
Post-oxidation in the exhaust manifold is known as a method to improve engine performance and also to reduce gas emissions. In this paper, two experiments were conducted to further investigate Post-oxidation and to apply to wider conditions. Firstly, the effects of different fuel injection systems on Post-oxidation characteristics were investigated to determine whether post-oxidation can be achieved in different fuel injection systems. Secondly, Post-oxidation characteristics were evaluated under cold conditions to determine whether Post-oxidation can be used to shorten the catalyst light-off. Finally, 1D simulations incorporating Post-oxidation were conducted to evaluate Post-oxidation model and catalyst model.
