This paper presents a comprehensive selection of Auguste Perret's discourses on 'decoration' from articles, interviews and lectures, and organises them chronologically to reveal the dynamics of 'decoration' in Perret's concept of architecture as a modern architect. The key concepts are 'clothing', 'volume' and 'muscle'.
