NIR spectroscopy was applied to estimate the sugar content of fresh prunes. The NIR spectrometer used in the experiment detected spectral absorbance in the wavelength range of 710 to 949nm at 1nm interval. With the second derivative spectra, calibration models were developed for various combinations of wavelength ranges. In the 750 to 939nm wavelength range, R2=0.91, SECV=0.61 Brix% were obtained.
