A study was performed for the purpose of developing the hig-efficiency paddy seed disinfection technique using dry heat air. In this study, the seeds carrying Pyricularia grisea, Gibberella fujikuroi or Burkholderia glumae were used as the test samples, and a study to confirm functions, a study on the effects of sterilization of/protection from bacteria, and verification of effects on germination, etc. were performed using the test system utilizing the fire of line burner with which heat disinfection with dry heat air can be performed and the test system with electric tubular furnace. As a result, for Pyricularia grisea, the disinfection rate of 100 % was achieved, which was higher than that by conventional treatment such as treatment with drug solution and hot water immersion method, and for Gibberella fujikuroi and Burkholderia glumae, the effect equivalent to or higher than conventional treatment was obtained. Moreover, there was no decrease in germination rate by the treatment under the same conditions.
