It is necessary for us to decrease the consumption of energy by theoretical study on the tilling resistance, specially cutting resistance, using screw blade. For this study we assumed the soil-cutting to be the two-dimensional instead of three, and the soil to be broken to pieces along the plane of maximum shearing stress as the mechanism of soil cutting. Thus we gained the mean value of cutting power in region that was cut afresh in addition to the cutting resistance. As result of this analysis we came to the conclusion that the mean value of cutting power increased rapidly with increment of φ—an angle between a blade and a tangent of base circle—.
Accordingly we gained the conclusion that φ had to be small for decreasing cutting power.
