Abstract

The seed was coated in 3 layers with the inner coated layer (white powder) the middle layer (red powder) and the outer layer (white powder) by using powder of 2 colours for the purpose of investigating on the coating mechanism of the seeds by the fluidizing methods. Cutting section of a coated seed was classified into 4 shapes. The shape of cutting section of a coated seed was differed by circulating conditions of the seeds in the coating cylinder. At the best circulating conditions, the seed was located in the center, 3 coated layers were a circular shape with equall thickness, and particles of adhered powder to a fixed thickness were scarcely separated.
In this experimental equipment, the seeds started circulating at the air velocity of less than that of Yagi's formula. Theoretical equations of the adhered quantities of coating powder on a seed setted up, and they approximated the experimental values.
