It was previously pointed out by one of the authors that reduction of the turning motion resistance of the tracked vehicle can be performed drastically and effectively by the application of pivot mechanism to the braked track. It can de said from this that the turning motion resistance can be controlled by controlling the contact area of the braked track. In this case the contact length of the braked track could be practically controlled in so doing. The effect of the location of pivot point and the distance between both tracks on the turnability is discussed by use of the small scale model vehicle in this paper.
