In field works on a tractor, operator has to look backward frequently to check how the attached implement works and to control the implement accordingly while steering the tractor forward. Thus, operator usually works in a twisted posture. To improve this working condition, the authors developed a method which enables operator to obtain, without turning his head, the rear visibility of tractor through two mirrors installed on tractor.
The two-mirror method using plane mirrors was presented in the previous report, and in this report, the relationship between the indirect visual range on the rear of tractor and the size, location and radius of convexity of mirrors is discussed in case of convex mirrors. A series of experiments showed that clearer and wider visibility on the rear of tractor is secured with a combination of a convex mirror as the upper one and a plane mirror as the front one.
