Abstract

In order to develop an automated seedling production system, robot and its devices were applied in greenhouse as previously reported. In this paper, automation of seedling cultivation and management operations is discussed. For irrigation, pest control and liquid fertilizing, the robot mounted boom nozzle moves slowly along the rails spraying mist over seedlings. Electrictimer or soil moisture sensor is used to decide the timing of spraying. For greenhouse temperature control, the curtains on both sides of the greenhouse go up and down in 4 steps, from close to full open, by a motor according to the signals of 3 thermo-contorollers attached to the robot. For CO2 spraying, in response to the timer signals in the early morning, electromagnetic valve is opened by the robot controller and CO2 gas flows out from the nozzle attached to the robot.
