Abstract
In this study, the reduction of UV exposure for farmer in agricultural work, is aimed. For the purpose, the effects of absorbed sweat on UV transmission through fabrics were investigated. The results obtained are as follows. 1) The UV transmission through fabrics increased with absorbed sweat. 2) The increase in UV transmission attributed to water which is the chief ingredient of sweat. This is mainly caused by the reduction of the scattering coefficient (S) of UV light by absorbed water, and partly by the decreased in absorption coefficient (α). 3) S and α, which are required to hold down the UV exposure to less than 1 MED (Minimal Erythema Dose), were determined for various fabrics absorbed sweat. The values may give us much help not only for producing of farm working clothes, but also for making the choice of clothes proper to weather.
