Abstract
The coating accuracy and rate of work of an automatic coating machine and a conventional manual coating machine were investigated. Variations of mass of a coated seed in a manual coating machine differed according to each worker's level of skill. Variations of mass of a coated seed, peeling of coating material from a coated seed discharged by the metering device of a seeder and germination rate of coated seeds in a laboratory dish in an automatic coating machine were almost the same as a manual coating machine operated by a skilled worker. Problems for practical use were identified in on-the-spot monitoring tests. As a result of these tests, automatic coating machine was developed and put on the market.
