In part 1, a NIR calibration equation for measuring the potassium content in sugarcane juice was developed using an independent wavelength for the sucrose content as a primary one, which showed enough accuracy. In this paper, the calibration equation was checked to determine whether it was effective for the practical use and to development of an information system to assist the production of high quality sugarcane. The investigation had been carried out in Minami-Daito Island from 2000/01 to 02/03 harvest seasons using a similar NIR instrument in the payment system. NIR spectra were measured from all juice samples used for the payment system from all sugarcane fields on the island, and then the potassium contents were calculated by the calibration equation. It was confirmed that the potassium and the sugar content could be measured simultaneously and could be incorporated into the payment system. It would be a powerful tool to assist the precise application for potassium fertilizer to each field in order to produce high quality sugarcane.
