Development of Storage-feeder Device

Abstract

We developed welsh onion storage-feeder device for storing welsh onions and automatically feeding them one by one in synchronization with a series of trimming machine for Welsh onion. We devised a movable three-stage cassette that holds three welsh onions vertically for transportation and feeds them one by one thus making the device compact and able to store as many welsh onions as possible in a limited space.
The device can store up to 51 welsh onions. While it feeds onions automatically to the trimming machine, which takes about 5 minutes, workers are free to concentrate on other tasks such as onion transportation or garbage disposal without terminating the device. This realizes efficient preparation works.
