Abstract
Hemodynamic and biological properties of prosthetic valves were evaluated using pulse duplicator, whole-body simulator and through clinical follow up of the patients. Duplicating test revealed the inherent characteristics; durability, opening characteristics, frequency response, regurgitation and so on. Effective characteristics of various combinations of valves and sizes were analyzed using hydrodynamic simulation. Follow up of the patients gives available information of biological properties of prostheses,
Through these evaluations, mechanical valves; Bjork-Shi ley, St. Jude Medical and Omniscience; became the prostheses of our choice instead of stented xenograft. Effective co-operation between the experimental labolatory and clinical department is necessary for evaluation of prosthetic valve properties.
