Abstract
Biomaterials are fundamental components in artificial organs. For developing the ideal type of artificial organ, “HOMEOSTAT, ” that is composed of sensor, processor and effector and forms the closed feedback loop with the physiological mechanisms of human body and is capable of adjusting the disturbed homeostasis of diseased living body in real time, the functional biomaterials should be designed intentionally.
The author has insisted that the Biomaterials Chemistry is important where the interaction between materials and living systems should be explored at the molecular level. On the basis of Biomaterials Chemistry, the tailormade biomaterials could promote the composite functional artificial organs in the future.
