Abstract
Intraoperative autotransfusion was undertaken in 44 cases of the surgery of great arteries using by our own designed autotranfusion apparatus and could be saved 60 percent of the total blood loss and was re-infused by this mean. Major side effect such as hemolysis or impaired coagulation, renal dysfunction and microembolization was not encountered, the maneuver of intraoperative application was technically feasible and easy. We stress that autotransfusion procedure is not only minimized the amount of blood transfusion but also prevent complications which associate with blood transfusion itself. Keywords Intraoperative autotransfusion. Hemolysis. Bleeding tendency, Microembolization, Swank filter
